Synopsis

When Emily Miller’s younger brother gets married, her parents hand him two Long Island houses—and give her a mentally ill aunt they consider worthless. Aunt Diana was once a statewide science champion with an acceptance letter from MIT, but her own mother locked her in the attic for years to fund her son’s education, driving her insane. Forced to sign away her inheritance and take custody of Diana, Emily walks out with nothing but a shattered woman the family calls “trash.”
